I’m too BIG for ANY label.
Listened to a podcast MMT, Master Mind Talks. Episode about Personal Branding.
For some “weird” reason I listened to another podcast on the same subject just the day before, and finished a book “The Experience Effect: Engage Your Customers with a Consistent and Memorable Brand Experience”, the day before that. Book that talks a lot about personal branding in different terms, describing it as a tool to create the most effective marketing campaign, the experience that will bring you loyal customers on a consistent basis, the customers that love you, customers that you love.
It all fell into place.
It was all “pure coincidence”, I stumbled upon all these resources at the same time. Wasn’t it?
In the episode of the podcast the hosts, Jayson Gaignard and Joey Coleman, outlined an action plan to help everyone define their personal brand to create a successful business, or to just do something to bring value more effectively, and to be paid for doing what you love, what you are good at, what you are passionate about.
Today I woke up and realized, what I am trying to do as a business is not even on my list of “I wanna be” or “I wanna do” things!
No wonder I am struggling getting any business at all!
What I’m doing is close to my passions, but it’s not HOW I want to spend my days.
It hit me.
As the first step, in the action plan, I was supposed to do an investigation.
- What do I want to be known for?
- When people hear my name, what are the things they think about first?
- What do I want to be world-class at?
- What am I passionate about?
And suddenly I realized I couldn’t care less about personal training that I do, or weight loss coaching.
I’m very interested in health and fitness. I’m passionate about it, but I just don’t want to be involved in the areas the way I am involved now. It’s not everything I do. It’s not everything I am.
When I see personal trainers doing their job — I don’t really want to be one of them, don’t want to be the best. I don’t want to be a mediocre one either.
I love training. I love giving people advice about health and fitness based on my experience and knowledge. But I don’t want to be a personal trainer/nutritionist for a living.
Too boring. Too limiting. Not me!
I love doing research in the area of nutrition, bio-hacking, health, fitness, longevity, arte di vivere, and how we can be the best versions of ourselves. I love reading lots on the subject, doing my research and experiments, do classes, workshops, speak about it, write about it, but be a personal trainer? Nutritionist? He. Not really.
I want to speak! To write! Do workshops and organize events! I want to inspire people! To motivate! To research! To make discoveries and share them! To educate, to eradicate false believes and limitations! To live, to study life, to teach how to live to the fullest being yourself 100% of the time!
I want to be the best, most extraordinary me and inspire others to do the same!
People I follow are coaches, motivational speakers, self-experimentators, authors, thought leaders, linchpins, creatives, crazy ones, entrepreneurs, explorers, researchers.
They do events, they speak, they write, they educate, they travel, explore, investigate and research. They are creative, artistic, crazy, one-of-a-kind people.
And that’s where I belong.
Tim Ferriss, James Altucher, JB Glossinger, Gunnar Garfors, Marie Forleo, Jayson Gaingard, Austin Kleon, Seth Godin, Jeffrey Shaw, Jonathan Fields, Malcolm Gladwell, Peter Diamandis, Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Leonardo Da Vinci, Stephen J. Dubner, Tony Robbins, Dr. Wayne Dyer, many others. Those are the people I admire, I follow, I see myself among them, doing similar things in my own way.
There are things I want to do, that they don’t do. I’m different, of course.
But I love coaching, speaking, doing events, inspiring, motivating, writing, doing crazy shit no one else thought about doing before!
Even when I’m writing these words right now I feel so freaking good!
I love to be a geek. I love to get really deep into things I’m passionate about like: self-improvement, defying self-limits, health, longevity, bio-hacking, spirituality, art, sacred geometry, the power of numbers, colors, vibrations, music, jazz, dancing, cooking.
I love traveling. Having fun. Playing music. Dancing. Taking cool pictures to let people see what I see. Singing. Creating art. I love working out and building beautiful physique, getting younger, stronger, fitter.
I guess this IS my investigation. An attempt to understand what I want to be known for.
My website is Create Yourself Today.
I want to be known for living an extraordinary life, being an extraordinary human being, creating the exact self each of us want to be.
I have multiple passions. I do many things. And I don’t want to be known for one thing only. I want to live my best life, exploring, researching, doing things and bringing value to people’s lives with what I do at the moment. Changing the world my way. And yes, writing, speaking about that. Sharing my journey.
I want to be a Renaissance Man!
I don’t want to be defined by one thing! And I don’t want to choose one thing!
I just got to figure out how to package what I’m passionate about at the moment for other people to enjoy and benefit from. And to make a living, of course.
I got to stop trying to find “my thing” for the rest of my life. It’s not me. Never was.
That’s why I tried so many things: programming, bartending, personal training, nutrition coaching, image consultancy, finished musical school, worked as a dancer, interior designer/decorator, life coach, health coach. I’ve been writing since I was a kid, giving talks sometimes, organizing events. I even illustrated a book once, and got paid for drawing portraits for a while.
But I don’t want to be one thing! That’s just so against my nature!
Some people always ask themselves: what am I passionate about? What is my life purpose? What should I do with my life?
For me it was never an issue!
Life is so freaking fascinating!
I can get passionate almost about anything. Literally. Once you dig deeper everything is so amazing and so fascinating! I need another 1000 years to do everything I’m passionate about! (I actually secretly looking for ways to live that long).
If there is one thing I can teach anyone — I can teach how to live life with passion and start doing what you love and love what you do.
What did I learn today about my personal brand?
My personal brand can’t be put under one label. BUT the things, projects I’m passionate about at the moment — they can be packaged, defined, labeled and sold.
Create Yourself Today IS my brand.
Creating, discovering, re-inventing yourself daily, living in the NOW — that’s my personal brand.
In the podcast guys talked about long term business plans, and how they never work, because everything changes so fast.
They were saying that it’s good to make short term plans. And adjust plans regularly.
For me — I can’t plan beyond the next day! Why? There are so many things that can happen in a day turning my life around, 180 degrees, that I can’t plan even a week ahead!
The best planning for me — committing to a project I’m passionate about at the moment. That’s my business plan. That and surrender the details. The details I discover on a day-to-day basis.
