A Saturday evening out dining?
I discovered another place in New York city to indulge my taste buds in a healthy way.
I discovered a place, where I don’t have to ask the stuff about the ingredients of every single dish to make sure it’s not going to kill me slowly, or make all my efforts in the gym not visible the next morning.
I discovered a place to experience the true essence of food — delicious nourishment.
I discovered Quintessence.
A friendly home-like cozy restaurant in the East Village New York. A place, that takes care not only of your taste buds, but also of your health, and yes, beauty and internal genius.
Quintessence was opened in 1999 (!!!) by a beautiful woman Mun, who discovered how life transforming the healing powers of foods can be, and how destructive the forces of junk and food like products can be, through her own experience.
Quintessence is the realization of Mun’s passion for healthy eating and healing foods, a passion, that she wanted to share with her friends and as many people as possible.
“Quintessence is the most established raw food restaurant in the United States. It continues to expand its offering of organic, raw, and gluten free cuisine. And with gourmet snacks and new services designed to deliver vegan and organic produce directly to you, Quintessence is making it easier and tastier to live a healthier, more balanced life.”
“Our mission at Quintessence is to facilitate that first and essential step of re-connecting with our bodies. We do this simply by providing nutritious, organic food that is made with Love as well as providing a safe and healing environment in which to enjoy that food. Once we re-connect with our bodies we can then begin the healing journey which leads to true Personal Transformation in every aspect of our lives. We welcome, embrace and celebrate your willingness to take this journey with us.”
All food is organic, vegan, mostly raw, home made with love, gluten free.
99% of it (or more) is completely sugar free — nothing but well combined whole food ingredients.
I found only 3 desserts with coconut sugar (in the video I said brown sugar for some reason) — the rest of the desserts are sweetened with Stevia or Birch Xylitol, that are the healthiest sweeteners on the market at the moment, sweeteners, that I’d recommend, when you crave sweetness and want something, that doesn’t affect your blood sugar, doesn’t have nasty chemicals in it and doesn’t make you fat, brain damaged or possibly causes cancer.
I didn’t eat much this time, I’m yet to try the whole menu, that I intend to do eventually over time.
I need to be ready for photo shoots daily so I indulged sensibly, to stay super super lean. (It was a challenge I must say, because except for my photo shoots, nothing would stop me from indulging in foods of such a great quality and delicious pleasure!)
I enjoyed my Green Soup
(A highly alkalizing blend of kale, cucumber, celery, extra virgin olive oil, celtic sea salt, lemon juice, and avocado.)
and Chipotle Cheese Roll
(Ingredients: Raw Nori, Romaine Lettuce, Bell Pepper, Cucumber, and Avocado
Chipotle Dip: Pecans, Dates, Chipotle Pepper, Garlic, Ginger, Cilantro, Gluten-Free Tamari, Tomato, Fruit Juice, and Sea Salt
Cashew Cheese: Cashews, Irish Moss, Lemon Juice, and Sea Salt),
that were delicious, satisfying, beautiful, light and filling.
And so colorful and vibrant! The energy was shining from the food! — It must have gotten into me, I got more compliments than usual about my looks on the way back. TRUE STORY!
Food makes us or breaks us.
Food is the most intimate connection to our environment, that programs our genes to makes us beautiful and vibrantly healthy, or kind of not so beautiful and sick. And dumb (Sugar and vegetable oils, and lots of other chemicals, present in our foods these days, are toxic to our brain and literally makes us a dumber version of ourselves).
Recently Quintessence added a healthy versions of comfort foods to their menu (Healthy Burger menu and more cooked vegan options) to make the transition to healthy eating for people easier, more tolerable and more enjoyable.
Check out their website for all the delicious healthy options of nourishing foods.
And of course stop by and enjoy!
Enjoy yourself in a healthy way! You deserve it! Don’t you think?
