Best Cardio for Fat Loss.

New Wearable Tech + Nasa’s Research + No-Tech Solution + HIIT

This Monday I was pleasantly surprised, when after measuring my body fat percentage with a caliper, I discovered that I lost 2% of body fat in a week without seemingly changing much in my training and my diet.

I always change up my weight training, but that past week I didn’t change much there. I didn’t change my diet at all, eating ketogenic and low carb as usual, whole foods, intermittent fasting.

The only thing I changed — I started jumping rope with a timer, going through several rounds of High Intensity Interval Training.

Example: 45 sec jumping, 15 sec resting X 10 times, jumping as fast as I can getting out of breath.

I did that at least 3 times last week and the fat just fell off, it seems.

We were talking about gravity, how proper use or lack of gravitational stimulation affects our long-term health, bone density, muscle mass, sense of balance, cognitive functions, weight loss and weight gain and every other system in our body to some degree.

A bit of science.

On Earth we experience 1G gravitational force. Scientists use “1G” to define the amount of gravity each of us experiences on Earth, and then they compare it numerically to environments on other planets, on IIS (International Space Station), but also to here on Earth, to different environments, water, superfast flights, crazy rides in amusement parks, where you can experience 4G (that’s why it’s so exciting by the way, physically and mentally), acceleration increases the amount of gravitational force we experience, so do some of the machines (example: centrifuge), and movements (example: jumping rope or bouncing on a trampoline).

What does it have to do with weight loss?

They did experiments on mice, forcing them to exist in hypergravity (gravity greater than Earth gravity) for 3 weeks, and the results? Mice got leaner with no changes in their “lifestyle” otherwise.

As it turns out, we are indeed affected by different gravitation forces, our bones, our muscles, our metabolism — everything is affected by different gravitational forces we experience.

The more gravitational “variety”, it seems, the better our overall health, and, if we spend some time in space in microgravity, or zero gravity, we start experience symptoms of old age.

Back to weight loss.

Did you know, that jumping increases the gravitational force you experience to about 2G? (That what I’ve learned on that podcast from Joan Vernikos). So it seems, that the kind of exercise, that increases the amount of gravity we experience, will help us to get leaner.

That made me think of all the rope jumping I’ve started…

Plus we know from experiments, that HIIT training also improves body composition towards lean muscle mass.

I seem to be onto something. Not that I invented interval rope jumping, but it’s nice to know the science behind it.
