Do the things that suck.
“How do you drink it every morning?
The taste sucks!
It’s not sex to enjoy it.
It’ good for you — that’s why I drink it.”
Talking to a friend of mine in the gym about my morning drink — water, turmeric, lemon, gotu kola, mushrooms extract, chlorophyll.
Remember your Mom told you to eat your veggies?
She might have been teaching you the most important entrepreneurial self-development lesson you can master in your entire life.
Do the things that suck — your ticket to personal freedom.
It’s the power of discipline and long term planning over short term satisfaction.
Modern life will call to your lazy self to go ahead and enjoy yourself, indulging in some guilty pleasure, whatever it might be — food, video games, TV binge-watching, drinking in a bar, getting high all the time, buying another unnecessary thing to add to your list of “self-worth-uplifting” possessions, sex for the purpose of distraction-destruction, complaining and picking up fights, gossiping about celebrities and the latest political scandal — the world has no lack of easy entertainment.
But overindulge in them — and your life will feel as empty as that glass that once was half full.
Not only that — overindulging will leave you fat, sick, depressed and closer to nearly dead as it’s possible being alive.
Want to stick with healthy eating for life?
Make peace with the fact that you will NOT eat for pleasure. You will make pleasurable the food, that is good for you.
Want to stick with daily exercise routine?
Make peace with the fact that you will NOT enjoy every single workout. You will enjoy the after effects.
The best rewards don’t come easy in life — if it was easy, everyone would do it, everyone would have it.
You can fight the fact, that your freedom is bought with your discipline.
Or you can accept the fact and buy that freedom.
You don’t get healthy and stay healthy.
HEALTH is a DAILY PRACTICE. One bite at a time.
