“I’m shaking from hunger a bit. Probably need some protein. I haven’t eaten much since this morning! Can you imagine?!”
8 PM. New York city. Café. I met a new friend. We are having some tea.
“I probably should eat something”
“You know, your shaking has nothing to do with protein. Or not eating since morning. I haven’t eaten since yesterday. You probably have blood sugar issues, some problems with insulin. Your body doesn’t need to get protein from food every single day to survive.”
Then we went on talking about metabolism, fasting, us humans designed to be fat-burners, not sugar-burners. Needless to say my new friend forgot about the food. Mostly because we got so into the topic.
Do you experience that daily?
The need to eat every couple/few hours throughout the day not to feel like you are about to die with no energy, with fatigue, brain fog, sleepiness, mood swings, no enthusiasm for living? Leave alone productive work or physical training?
Here is the thing. You don’t need more calories, and carbs especially, to “fix” the problem every single time, few times a day. Most of us overfed with calories and carbohydrates and underfed nutritionally — vitamins, minerals, you know, “the small” stuff. That matters BIG time.
The fix to the problem is not eating more of the stuff that made you into a food dependable creature. The fix to the problem is turning yourself into a fat-burner, and supplying your body with all the macro-nutrients that most of the world is starving for.
How do we do that?
Fasting. NOT juice “fasting”.
That’s how we were designed to eat. Sugars and carbohydrates were never at every corner.
That’s the efficiency and effectiveness of our design. Nature is smart.
Carbohydrates and food were never so available everywhere! We used to fast-feast-fast-feast … You find food, you eat it and then you fast till the next meal, that might come or not today. If we were passing out and losing muscles every time the food was not around, we would die off long long time ago, and the Earth would be populated by some other animals.
We look younger. We have more energy. Our hormones work the best. We are healthy. We are lean and muscular. When we fast on a regular basis. Meaning eating in a restricted time window, let’s say 6–8 hours a day, aka doing intermittent fasting. Or eating every other day, aka alternate day fasting. Or taking a food day off every week. Or couple of days. Whatever works for you. It was never meant to be a strict rule. Environment was never stable. There were no food guarantees.
Reap the benefits of fasting — that are many, from healing any metabolic disorders, blood sugar disorders, degenerative diseases and cancers to increased energy and vitality, longevity, great skin, sharp mind, more productivity to name a few. And the list keeps getting longer.
We were designed to fast.
The reason you don’t hear much about it — profits. If everyone ate like me, every other day, the food industry would not be such a profitable business niche. Nor would pharmaceutical or medical industries. People like me are not good for the economy based on sick people eating lots of food making them even sicker and needing more food, drugs and medical intervention.
More mind-blowing and fascinating stuff about fasting — how it works and why, how body’s metabolism INCREASES and you GROW muscles while fasting (NOT following a calorie restricted diet), how you can fast eating fat and having lots of energy, what fasting does to you, your longevity, your health etc.

Cute outfit — that makes me feel good and work out better
My gloves — I honestly don’t know how people work out without them! Grip is much better plus no blisters.
My towel — I like to be respectful to other people using machines after me.
My electrolyte water — to keep my cells functioning properly, like small energy plants, giving me all the energy I want and need. And also to balance and improve my blood circulation — keep those nutrients and oxygen flowing to pump up my workouts!
That’s it. No pre-, after-, intra- workouts. Non of that. I’m a minimalist. I don’t like to depend on substances unless absolutely necessary. I like to be wild, raw and simple. And strong, lean and fit!
Supplement industry wants to make you believe you absolutely NEED all those supplements, if you want to thrive and get results. Not really.
Diet. Exercise. Rest and recover. Stay positive and spread the good vibes. That’s pretty much it.
