Today the company I had walking in the central park was Brant Cortright interviewed by Elle Russ for the Primal Blueprint Podcast.
What were they talking about?
Neurogenesis — the process of building of new cells that happens in our brain throughout our life, that is if we have a healthy brain, if we take care of our brain.
Yes. You too continue growing your brain cells till you die! Not only when you are a kid! It’s a part of the whole neuroplasticity thing, the ability of our brain to adapt, to change itself based on the needs of our environment.
And it does make sense that our brain needs to be this way throughout our whole life. Plastic. Adapting. Constantly evolving and changing itself. Every single moment there is something changing in our environment that affects us one way or the other. Some people have more changing factors. Some people have less. But if our brain fails to adapt to the changes effectively and efficiently, fails to send the right kind of signals to the rest of the body, the rest of the cells to change their behavior — we are going to suffer!

Most of the “bad” stuff we do to ourselves — eating processed food like products, stressing out all the time, drinking, smoking, not exercising, not building good quality relationships, not doing the work that matters to us, not learning, treating others badly that ultimately returns back to us — all that stuff is killing our brain! Our belly fat compared to that is not such a big deal! But the fatter we get — guess what? The more our brain suffers and the quality of our life decreases! And the worst part? We won’t even realize it because sick brain can’t assess the situation properly! It, our brain, won’t be able to think clearly putting all the pieces together, creating sane solutions for us.
Sick brain — will create sick you — will create sucky life!
And you won’t even know what hit you!
The good part is?
You can totally change the situation starting with simple things like eating your whole foods, not eating sugar, moving more, building character and integrity, building meaningful-for-you career, building good quality relationships — being a NORMAL human being, not a money-making-stressed-out-junk-eating-unkind-sitting-getting-sicker machine.
