How thinking about groceries eats up your dreams.
I was recapping my 2016, writing down things I’m grateful for, working on the list of people to thank for making my year so beautiful, summing up lessons 2016 taught me, things I am not satisfied with that need to be worked out this year.
There was a breakthrough.
I asked myself a question. A really good one actually.
“Why am I always able to make it, but never able to break through?
Why am I good at surviving financially and not good at thriving?
Why, no matter what happens to me, I get to the other side safely, but never move beyond that point to a new place?
Why despite everything I know and learn am I good at surviving but NOT thriving?”
The next morning, while journaling, I got the answer loud and clear,
“You are spending all your time thinking about how to make it, how to survive, NOT how to thrive.
You are thinking about your groceries, about your bills, about maintaining your good health, about your to-do list, instead of thinking about exciting projects you have great ideas for, instead of thinking of BIG BOLD EXCITING GOALS you have.
You want to be among the stars, but you are constantly watching your feet.
You are making plans and taking actions to survive, NOT thrive. And that’s exactly what you get. Always.”
Ha. That’s exactly it.
“Hon, let’s stop by Maison and Kayser, have lunch, then we got to do grocery shopping and get ready for dinner, we got to pick laundry too today…”
I overheard the conversation of a couple on my way home.
Ha. And that’s exactly my kind of thinking too daily. How did I not notice that before?
I’m not planning to win the day. I’m planning to make it through.
Are you doing the same?!
Planning your meals, bills, groceries instead of YOUR BIG BOLD GOALS?
Planning not to die this year, instead of having fitness model like physique and Michael Jordan like energy?
Planning to make it, instead of having the best year of your life?
Cecelia Ahern had a good point (that I fully grasped only now), when she said,
“Shoot for the moon, even if you fail, you’ll land among the stars”
It’s not so much about the stars, the metaphor is a bit outlandish, it’s about our worm-perspective-lizard-brain thinking, that occupies us 90% of the time and more.
Can you relate?
I bet you can.
Let’s change it!
Let’s start working on those BIG BOLD GOALS we dreamed about for years. Groceries will be delivered.
You don’t get healthy and stay healthy.
HEALTH is a DAILY PRACTICE. One bite at a time.
Daily Bite of Health
WATCH THE STARS.
NOT YOUR FEET.
And here is an extra Bite of Health.
