Life is an ADVENTURE! Or not. Why not?

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all”
~ Helen Keller
Wake up.
Open your eyes faster than any thought.
Take a deep breath. Take a good look.
You know nothing about what’s gonna happen today.
That is the truth. — That is an ADVENTURE!
Voices. One or many. Thoughts. Fears.
Excitement — about what is to come. Regrets — about what you have done.
Turn off the radio. You don’t have to listen to it. And it’s definitely not the truth.
Not you. Not now.
Step into the day. Make your bed. Drink a glass of water. Look out of the window.
Another breath. Breathe in today. Breathe out what is not.
Be free. Be now. Here. — That’s where life is. That’s where you are.
ADVENTURE!
What do you wanna do? Right now. Here. You?
Go for a walk? Run after light from all your shadows?
Paint? Scream? Laugh out loud? Read? Write? Wander? Marvel?
Escape from everything but you and now?
You can. Your life. Your choice.
ADVENTURE!
But I have to…I should…I’m scared…What if…I can’t…
You can. Your life. Your choice.
ADVENTURE!
…Or?
Another breath. Breathe in. Breathe out.
Let’s go…
Weekend. Saturday.
I love to leave some time for unexpected. Preferably every day, saying yes to things, not because they’ve been planned, they are a part of my routine, they are on my to-do list, no, because the world whispered, “Hey, there is that thing I want you to try. Go. See what happens. It might change your life?…In what way — there is no guarantee of course. It will be fun! Let’s play! Explore! Go on Adventure!” Some people call it wandering. I call it freedom. I believe it to be the most luxurious thing in the entire world. That what it means to be a free human, a free soul. That what it means to live.
Do you have time for freedom?
Only in that free-from-everything-but-you-and-now space you can find a true adventure.
When I see all the advertising of one-in-a-lifetime experiences, planned and orchestrated with the list of variables, that are meant to create the sense of adventure but at the same time ensure the sense of certainty without which most people will not dare to go on “adventure” — I think to myself, this is not an adventure — this a planned outdoor activity in a place you only saw in the pictures before. Oh, yes, it’s one-in-a-lifetime event, but so is every moment. Isn’t it? When we are present to live it.
Adventure is not about doing things that endanger our life — it’s the call for adrenaline rush.
Adventure is when we allow ourselves to be taken away by the unexpected carrying us to the land we never even imagined. — You are not in Kansas anymore.
And that happens daily. Or not.
It’s a choice to say YES! Or NO to the unexpected.
The door to life you’ve always dreamed of living, the door to adventure, is in those moments. Moments of YES! When we allow the unexpected to take us wherever we must go, wherever we don’t know the road to.
It’s scary, because there is NO certainty. There is NO plan. There are NO guarantees of anything ever. And you might never be able to return (That’s usually the case, but then again, you usually won’t want to return anyway given the choice).
AND magically that unexpected can bring us exactly where we’ve always wanted to be. And that might be the exact opposite of where we thought we wanted to be.
Have I lost you yet?
But that’s life.
The ability to balance on the thin string between solid buildings of our plans with the possibility at any moment to be thrown off balance by a sudden blow of wind of life to fly-fall into abyss of unexpected adventure that life is.
When was the last time you said YES! to something you didn’t plan? Something you didn’t see yourself saying YES! to but you’ve always kind of wanted to?
When was it?
When was the last time that your YES! to the unexpected was a total and complete surprise to yourself?
Do you remember?
That unexpected call and never-saw-it-coming offer?
That invitation to an event you would never plan going to?
That cup-of-coffee-most-interesting-you’ve-had-in-a-while conversation with a person you’d never voluntarily agree to spend time with, if it wasn’t for some weird struck of luck and stuckness with nothing better to do?
DO YOU REMEMBER?
So, how is your life lately?…

Something. Anything. Today.
That’s me NOT in Kansas.
Actually, Brazil-Mexico-Peru — haven’t planned any of that.
