No one knows sh*t.
Today is a Motivation Monday.
And today I’m sharing, what I find to be really inspirational and motivational, what ignites my heart with passion and burns my legs for action.
I’ve been really failing at making ANYTHING happen in NYC for myself lately, despite all the aspiring and courageous bold goals and good-for-the-world intentions. I like to call it grounding these days. As I’ve been failing I approached a lot of people, a lot of successful people — I asked for help and advice, anything to turn my life around. And you know what I’ve discovered? Listen carefully, as it will change your life.
I’ve discovered, that nobody knows sh*t!
Everyone is an expert on their own life, and how they achieved success. A lot of successful people really believe they now can change lives of anyone with the same formula they used to turn their life into success.
Yeah. I wish.
People will give you a lot of advice. (Don’t get too excited though). Rarely anyone would take time to actually take MY situation and turn it around, helping me reach MY goals. And I totally respect that, nobody owes me anything, people are short on time, they have a life to live.
But it made me realize, how all the success and business, self-development courses are just the things, that can potentially make you think and act differently, good things to ponder upon, great source to come up with new ideas and…
And that’s it.
In the world of action and ACTUAL life changes, you are on your own.
What worked for well-meaning thought-leaders will most probably never work for you, no matter how much they believe otherwise.
It’s great, that they share their wisdom. It’s great, that they share their successes, showing us, that we can do it too, with enough grit, dedication, willingness to go through a lot of sh*t and failures, working our asses off. It’s great, that they do all they can to support me and you, dear reader. But that’s not, what’s gonna make you successful.
The only expert on your life and what it is you got to do is … YOU.
It’s all on you.
YOU got to figure your sh*t out.
YOU got to make an action plan.
YOU got to take massive actions and massively fail to learn, what works and doesn’t work in your life.
YOU got to figure out through action, action and action your own road to success.
YOU are the one and only, who can change your life, who can turn things around.
It kind of sucks. I wish, someone had a real success recipe, that will work for me, that will work for you, that will work for the homeless and hungry on the streets of NYC.
No such thing.
But it’s also kind of liberating. Now you don’t have to waste any time, trying to learn it all, absorb it all, and get all the information you “need” to surely not miss your own success. Now you can set a goal, that really drives you, drives your heart and head, and start massive-actions-daily-execution plan. However imperfect. Nobody knows sh*t anyway. Except for their own sh*t.
Decide what you want. Exactly.
Make a plan of a few first action steps, that are possible for YOU to take NOW. Do your best, but don’t sweat over it too much. Wisdom will come from actions.
Act. Act. Act. On EVERY single idea, even the stupidest and craziest. Try not to appear too crazy, and respect other people. (You’ll still most probably have to work with other people to achieve anything).
Fail or not. Learn. Adapt. Act.
Repeat till you get there. Wherever there is for you.
Sorry for all the sh*t.
It makes me think of two of my friends-entrepreneurs, friends, who I consider successful, and who I highly respect. Even though they do not send rockets to Mars and are not on the fortune 500 companies list.
Slava arrived to the city in Siberia, where I was born, 12 years ago from a former Soviet Union republic to turn his life around, to become an independent entrepreneur, making enough money to support himself and his family, so he could afford anything he wants, so his family could afford anything they want. Not golden urinals (Hi to my friends in the Middle East), and crazy over-priced 10* hotels, but you know, shop at any sensible store, go on any vacation anytime they want etc. 10 years forward, or less, he got it all. But man, he worked hard. He read no books on business and self-improvement. He tried everything. He is still hungry for growth, still trying every idea, that ignites his heart and head. His business and life continue to grow.
Shaky arrived to NYC from Israel about 14 years ago, having nothing, but his desire to turn his life around, so he never needed anything, so his family never needed anything. He didn’t have legal papers and visas. He had to sleep in his cab — his home and work. 10 years forward, he has his own construction/interior design company. He lives in the center of Manhattan. He never read one single business book, never took a self-improvement course. But he knows a hell of a lot about his business. He even taught himself interior design to better plan apartment buildings his company constructs. He reads a lot of philosophy and physics. He’s always learning, always improving, always seeking ideas, that ignite his heart and head. His business and life continues to grow.
Both are great amazing people. Both helped me out a lot. In fact, one recently gave me a job, till I figure things out and make my life work the way I want. That was all the help I really needed. A chance, a foundation to start growing.
I’ll figure my sh*t out.
Cause you know what? Nobody knows sh*t anyway.
I am THE expert on my life, who CAN turn thing around.
