On practice.
How to turn PRO and quit YO-YO mentality.

4.30 AM.
It’s freezing in NYC today! Feels almost like home. Siberia.
On my way to the gym I tuned in to one of my favorite podcasts I’ve been listening to for years now. Every episode connects me back to some place in the world, some place in time. I listened to it walking through favelas of Rio de Janeiro, through highscrapers horizon of Dubai, peering at the sea from a mountainous terrain of Peru. It’s funny how each episode of the show became my time/space machine.
Steven Pressfield — How To Go From Amateur To Turning Pro
The episode was about … many things, that are all connected to turning PRO in whatever it is you decided to dedicate yourself to.
In short, it’s all about practice.
You don’t have to make a living from something you want to be pro at.
Being a pro at something means respecting that thing enough to learn it, to understand it, to be in it, to constantly get better, to go through ups and downs, high and lows, and all the plateaus, and doubts of meaninglessness of pursuit.
Being a pro meaning taking all of it. No matter how tough and unpleasant, uncomfortable it gets. Taking it all in — exploring, learning, making it a part of you, a part of your life.
It’s the only way to mastery.
It’s love no doubt.
Out of practice a very successful career can emerge.
Or the best relationship of your life — romantic or otherwise.
Or the best art of your life.
Or the best health and body, that stay with you for life.
Health MUST be everyone’s practice. Love for yourself and your life.
Why?
Because health is wealth in all meanings.
Because health gives you energy to live your life to its fullest and best expression.
Because health is life lived well, lived meaningful.
Because health is the basis for everything else.
Because without health you will enjoy exactly nothing.
It’s hard to breathe life fully when each breath causes pain.
But like with any practice you got to invest first, leap first, trust first, before reaping unlimited and infinite returns.
You got to eat well.
You got to move and train your body to be resilient to be ready for anything that life throws your way — and life will throw a lot your way.
You got to sleep.
You got to breathe well.
You got to hydrate.
You got to educate yourself about body maintenance and do your best job like you are paid millions for it — because you are.
You want to stick with your routine, healthy eating, training to make a better body? Vibrant health? Abundant energy?
Design a lifelong practice, not a YO-YO quick-fix solution that will never give you what you truly want — feeling well, looking good and ready to rock your world, breathe your life fully.
