The Recipe for Mediocrity.
Reading the book: “The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM)” by Hal Elrod.
The moment I heard about the book on James Altucher’s podcast I knew I needed to read it.
Sometimes you just know that you got to read, listen to or watch something.
The more I listened to the podcast, to Hal, the more I was getting convinced that I just have to get the book and read it. It’s important for me to get to the next level in my life.
I’m a morning person. I’ve always been like that. Just like my mom. Early-bird naturally since I was a kid.
I was a morning-routine person for ages too. I got into personal development stuff when I was in school. So I’m quite familiar with all the exercises and concepts in the book. But what got me, why I knew I had to get the book, even though I didn’t think there was so much new knowledge, because let’s face it, there is nothing new under the Sun, everything is already said, we just need to hear it through a different messenger. I knew I had to read that book because I needed to stick to my best proved morning ritual for a prolonged period of time to get the results I want.
Consistency was always an issue for me. Still is. Part of it is I’m not that motivated since most of the people around me, in my close proximity are not the people I will look up to in the area of personal development. I’m surrounded mostly by people who settled for mediocrity — that is not surprisingly because 95% of the people settle for mediocrity. I knew I need something to push me further, to make me work harder, to achieve my dreams and live my full potential. I knew I needed something to make me follow through EVERY single day to reach the results I haven’t reached yet. And this book seemed to be exactly what I needed.
I got it. I’m reading it. It IS exactly what I needed.
What’s being widely regarded as “one of the most life changing books ever written” may be the simplest approach to achieving everything you’ve ever wanted, and faster than you ever thought possible. What if you could wake up tomorrow and any — or EVERY — area of your life was beginning to transform? What would you change? The Miracle Morning is already transforming the lives of tens of thousands of people around the world by showing them how to wake up each day with more ENERGY, MOTIVATION, and FOCUS to take your life to the next level. It’s been right here in front of us all along, but this book has finally brought it to life. Are you ready? The next chapter of YOUR life — the most extraordinary life you’ve ever imagined — is about to begin. It’s time to WAKE UP to your full potential…
The main thought in the book is the importance of working on self-development EVERY single day! No Exception! And working on it in the most productive time of your day — your morning, right after you wake up.
Although I do wake up early every day and have a morning routine, it’s never the same. Sometimes I do one thing, sometimes something different and I the funny thing is the closest I get to doing my “ideal” morning routine, the closest I get to living my “ideal” day, having the exact energy and results I want.
Using the strategies and recommendations in the book I will commit to 30-day challenge for starters. Today is Day 2. Getting my accountability partner tomorrow — one of the things you GOT TO have, if you want to follow through with any goal or challenge.
Now I just want to share something that inspired me today to be more, to do more, to live my full potential.
Causes of Mediocrity
(from the Miracle Morning book) or the Recipe for Mediocrity you should follow, if you want to live mediocre life or things to avoid, if you want to live an extraordinary life:
Rearview Mirror Syndrome:
We believe that who we were is who we are.
If we want to change our life we got to divorce our story, forget about our failures in the past and KNOW that we can create a different life.
Lack of Purpose:
Lacking the reason to jump out of the bed in the morning is a sure way to mediocre life.
We don’t have to have our life purpose right away. We can have a daily purpose for today, help someone, for example.
Isolating Incidents:
How we do anything is how we do everything.
If we want to improve our life we got to treat every single choice like it’s something our future life depends on. Because it truly does. Life is created by every single choice we make daily.
Lack of Accountability:
If there is no one we are accountable to with our goals, there is a huge chance we will not follow through. For some reason we always do more when we are accountable, and we feel that someone truly cares about the results we get.
Mediocre Circle of Influence:
We are the average of people we surround ourselves with. Want to change your life? Look around you. Your life will be the average of five people you spend the most time with. Is it something you want?
Lack of Personal Development:
Success is something we attract by who we become.
If we don’t have the life we want — we are not the people who deserve that life. We need to change ourselves first to live the life we want.
Lack of Urgency:
Time to take actions is now. There is no time for delay. Life will not work itself out one day. If we don’t work to create what we want today — it will never happen, life will not change and we never get to live our dreams.
